CONTENTS

Dog Adoption

Give Me Shelter is a web portal willing to link adopters with dog rescuers and does not own any dogs. All dogs’ details are uploaded on our website by third parties (private persons or groups rescuing animals we call rescuers). We have no control over the quality of the information therefor Give Me Shelter cannot accept responsibility for any errors or omissions by these parties.

Give Me Shelter cannot guarantee that any animal seen on this website will be suitable for an individual prospective owner.

The animals displayed here are not in our care. They are in Romania in the Rescuers care. They have differing needs and can only be matched accurately to a new home once the Rescuer or a partner in your country has approved a prospective new owner.

Give Me Shelter cannot guarantee that any animal seen on the website will be available for adoption when reserved on our website. Some dogs are “advertised” elsewhere by rescuers.

We do our best to find a family for all stray dogs seven days a week. Animals are rehomed from our rescuing partners in Romania seven days a week. Although this site is regularly updated, there may be occasions when a dog appearing on the website has already found a family.

Nor Give Me Shelter or Rescuers cannot accept responsibility for the temperament of any dog once it has been rehomed. All animals are rehomed at our discretion and we reserve the right to refuse an application to rehome a dog without reason.

All Give Me Shelter dogs are given thorough health and temperament assessments. This gives the rescuers an insight into their character and enables them to make a considered decision as to which type of home would be best for the animal. However, once a pet has settled into a new home, his or her behaviour can sometimes alter. A rescuer can only assess an animal on the behaviour it displays while in his/her care.

Filling a “take me home” (adoption) form

Filling a “take me home” adoption form on our website does not imply that you are the legal adopter of the dog. Filling this form will place adopters chronologically on our eligibility list. All the information provided in this form will be transferred to the dog’s rescuer and/or to the association dealing with the dog’s papers and to the transporter in case you are selected as adopter. Give Me Shelter does not charge any fees for this service. However you might be asked by the rescuer to cover the rescuing costs and transport.

Rescue area

“Rescuer area” is the place on our website where rescuers can upload the dogs’ information. The information must be accurate and reflect reality.

Rescuers

Before becoming a GMS approved RESCUER:

We do background checks for any person registering as “RESCUER” on our Web Portal after providing detailed information about his/her work as dog rescuer. We will ask for recommendations. We will also use the online
Romanian blacklisted rescuer and will check the rescuer against that list too. We will also check about his/her work and honesty with other rescuers as most of them know each-other. After all these checks, we will meet the rescuer in person for a short interview to double check all the info and to evaluate his shelter. After all of the above if everything comes up clean, this person becomes “gms approved rescuer” and he/she can upload dogs’ details on our web portal and can benefit from our support.

After becoming a GMS approved RESCUER:

a) The rescuers have to provide periodical updates (including photos and/or videos) about the dogs they have in their care.
b) All paid volunteers/rescuers must return invoices or receipts matching the criteria the money was initially sent for within 15 days. (e.g vet invoices, dog food receipts, fuel receipts when transport is required for dog rescue missions, dog medicine receipts etc)
c) Failing to provide invoices or receipts within 15 days, covering the expenses as previously agreed will ban the rescuer from our Web Portal making it impossible to receive any further support from us or our donors and we will trigger legal actions against the rescuer to recover the debt when necessary.

All the information provided will be stored and processed for communication, marketing and advertising purposes.
